Résumé : |
The federative coaching definitions – We may quote the Société Française de Coaching’s: “coaching deals with accompanying people or teams for the development of their skills and their know-how within the scope of professional objectives” – are rather abstract and dull. They conceal the multiple approaches to coaching. Indeed, coaching is a practice which takes on the most varied forms and which is even considered an UFO – an uninstitutionalized formal occurrence or even an unidentified formal omnipresence. Therefore, the varied approaches to coaching are yet to be explored. The results from that exploration will draw the attention of prescribers, as well as people in charge of selecting coaches in companies and coaches themselves and their trainees, who are anxious to work with individuals that share a minimum of their conception of the process. Besides, these results allow to elicit the context for the coaching rapid expansion and practice from the mental representations that are made by its contracting parties and thus they establish a link between coaching and more extensive socio-economic phenomena and trends. |
