Whatever his discipline is, what does the researcher do when he is working at his desk, in a laboratory, or on the field ? He is writing, in particular. This paper focuses on the link between science, research activity and writing. When he is writing an article, a book or a communication for a congress, the researcher tells a story (or a set of stories). As will be seen, the content given to the word “story” relieves it from all pejorative or critic connotations. The “scientific stories” written by the scientist aim to make a reality – a “reality” shared by other researchers. The researcher is a “story teller”, a “reality maker”. That is the thesis – of anthropologic nature – exposed herein. |
