Titre :  An international perspective on the meaning given to ethics in France. Between the German-speaking and English-speaking approaches and the French-speaking approach, there are differences that can be radical

Résumé :  This article examines the notion and the concept of “éthique” in French culture from an international point of view, via a comparative and historical analysis. The study focuses on the different adaptations of the notion of “éthique” in German-speaking, English-speaking and French-speaking cultures, and on the different ways that connections between economic, political and ethical considerations have evolved in these three cultures. In today’s globalized world, this comparative approach makes it possible, on one hand, to avoid the trap of French ethnocentrism in academic debate and, on the other hand, to reveal the utility of a macro-ethical perspective completing the micro/meso-ethical approach.
