Just as Hatchuel’s research seeks to go beyond the metaphysics of action to develop an axiomatic theory of collective action, this article seeks to cross through and leap beyond the metaphysics of coaching. Crossing through them means, first, identifying them: the utilitarianism of the professional literature, deviant practitioners, the tools of human resource management, and critical approaches. Then, supported by this review, the study leaps forward in order to afford a better view of what they have left unconsidered. The literary critical approach highlights the original experience of the Coachman’s constellation, which brings us back to coaching, with three fundamental questions: ontological (which kind of relationship to the world is offered by coaches?), political (what is the role of coaching in the historical European concern for the inner self?), and ethical (to what extent does coaching provide a key to a sense of equilibrium? What is its relationship to war and competition?).. |
