Résumé : |
Starting from a critical review of the literature and our own experience of intervention, this article tries to identify the specificities of intervention in an organisation from a systemic point of view. In particular it tackles the question of the power of the intervenor, i.e. his ability to modify the representations of the actors who make up the client system. This question amounts to tackling the various strategies of legitimisation that the intervenor is likely to implement to bring his work to a successful conclusion:
- the legitimisation of the intervenor, based on his effective competence, the recognition that he enjoys (reputation), his accumulated experience, the impartiality that he demonstrates, etc.;
- the legitimisation of the contents of the intervention, linked either to the coherence of the knowledge produced thanks to the intervention compared with the representations of the actors concerned, or the nature of the information gathered thanks to his position as an analyst;
- the legitimisation of the manner of intervention, the details of which (complexity and degree of elaboration, length, terms and means of restitution) should be constantly negotiated with the various protagonists and adapted to the specific context of the intervention.
The article discusses the different forms that these strategies of legitimisation can assume, by using a contextualist analysis framework. |
