The systemics: mathematical, cybernetic, functionalist, relational and communicational are presented. The article highlights the essential differences between the first three and the last two. The mathematical, cybernetic and functionalist systemics belong to a positive-deductive paradigm and the relational and communicational systemics belong to an interpretative –constructionist paradigm. So, to speak of a “systemic” analysis of something does not make much sense. It has to be specified which sort of systemic is involved. With concrete examples, the article then shows that the systemic of communications is a true qualitative approach with specific concepts and its own method. This demonstration is effected above all by examining critically the contributions of the Palo Alto School. They laid down the bases of a real “systemic of communications” while leaving untended the method of systemic modelling that should accompany it. The article also shows that this kind of method of systemic modelling of communications can lay claim to a separate place in the field of the various disciplines, since it can be used by all these disciplines to model meaningful exchanges. |
