Résumé : |
The initiative-freeing organizational form is becoming a major trend in management studies and seems to appeal to more and more leaders. These new organizational models tend to question the forms of traditional power and the place of management in firms. Around the world, several organizations are trying to experiment with these kinds of managerial mutations (Getz et Carney, 2009). However, there is a lack of theoretical works dealing with this issue and the model calls for a better conceptual understanding.
This article uses a conceptual framework that mobilizes the sociology of conventions (Boltanski and Thévenot, 1987, 1991). From a methodological point of view, we compare the concrete case of the firm P, experiencing a radical management change in the sense of a large initiative-freeing organizational model, to the “worlds” described by Boltanski and Thévenot. In particular, we study in what proportion this kind of experimentation tends to gravitate around some “worlds” more than others. Our results suggest that initiative-freeing organizational firms are less a complete new organizational ontology than a mix of “industrial” and “project” orders of worth. |
