Résumé : |
The text highlights two sorts of representations of the world which are prevalent among the urban underprivileged in Brazil: drug dealers and workers. It analyses their ways of conceiving their bodies and their relationship to money. It shows that the visions of the world and the values in the people who take part in drug dealing are directly opposite
those adopted by poor workers. Two sorts of representation and use of the body and earnings are created in this way. The drug dealer uses his body as a challenge to the world which opens the way to power, whereas the worker sees bis body as an instrument to be used to obtain some income. |
