When studying naive and experienced viewers’ aesthetic perception and preferences, it is important to take into account the influence of education, arts instruction and abilities. From the results of the different studies one can conclude that education plays a role but that has less impact than the family environment and arts instruction influences. All the subjects perceive complexity and are more interested by high complexity stimuli but preferences differ according to the arousal potential, the degree of familiarity with arts and the importance given to certain criteria of judgment. Naives and experts have different perceptive and cognitive skills. In the conclusion we suggest new perspectives for the study of aesthetic experience. |
