The banking sector in France is heterogeneous in its status, in the way of conducting its activities and in its conception of money. The cooperative component of this sector is caracterised by a conception of money as a social link, associated with an original form of organisation. Nevertheless, increasing competition and reglementary transformations largely reduce originality and introduce a banalisation trend. This analysis is based on a monographie approach of one cooperative banking organisation. We identify three different periods illustrating changes in conception of money, with significant transformation of its own organisation and the form of trust which it has built up. |
