Résumé : |
Alongside the great books of theoretical political economy in the 17th century practical books appeared on how to become rich. These guides to rapid success work on three levels: at the top, the great American nababs attract limitless admiration; in the centre, the little French millionnaires are secretly envied; at the bottom, the mass of "suckers" believe in the posdibility for each persan to get rich quick. The author, in the first part, identifies the ideal type (according to Max Weber's method) of the billionnaire in the economic literature then shows, in the second part, the modus operandi for acquiring a very great fortune. |
