Psychoanalysis represents more than a set of concepts of theories or of techniques. It corresponds also and above all to a conception of scientific research, which marks a radical break with the dogmas of empirical and positivist thought. From this point of View, it has led to redefine the dialectical relationships between the processes of theory construction and those of intervention practices, underlying the crucial role of the persons subjectively engaged in them. If the attempts to apply psychoanalyis to the treatment of problem-situations in groups and organisations have most often appeared to be vain and illusory, the freudian experience has nevertheless contributed greatly to a profond and lasting remodlelling of the conceptions of social change. These conceptions define the possibilities and the limits of the field within which an analysis of group processes is possible. It is based on the contradictions, as well as on the similarities, between two expressions of rationality: that of the invention of psychoanalyis on
one hand, and that of the act of creation of organisations on the other. |
