Gaëtane Caesens

Gaëtane holds a PhD in Psychological Sciences and a Master's degree in Psychological Sciences with a deep focus. She is currently a lecturer in personnel psychology and human resources at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium). In 2016, she completed her doctoral thesis on the topic of recognition at work and its link with work engagement. More recently, her research has focused on the issue of organizational dehumanization. With these experiences, she has authored numerous scientific articles published in international journals such as the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, Journal of Vocational Behavior, and Journal of Business and Psychology. Gaëtane will give a conference titled: "My organization treats me as if I were an object": better understanding the phenomenon of organizational dehumanization, during the closing plenary session.

Topic

My organization treats me as if I were an object": better understanding the phenomenon of organizational dehumanization

The conference will focus on the phenomenon of organizational dehumanization, which is described as the feeling of being treated by one's organization as an object, or a tool that can be used for organizational purposes. What are the consequences of organizational dehumanization for workers? How do these perceptions develop, and how can they be reduced? During this presentation, answers and a summary of the current state of scientific research on this topic will be provided.
